General Fund
The Foundation's operating and clerical expenses are paid from general contributions. All information provided by the Foundation is free. No salaries are paid to its scientific advisors. Operating expenses include the facility, computer hardware, software, phone services, internet access, website maintenance, printing, office supplies, data base maintenance, information gathering trips to eye institutes and research centers, production of educational materials about Macular Degeneration, etc.

Macular Degeneration is a degenerative disease that robs young and old of central vision. As a result, children face a lifetime of uncertainty and elders risk the early loss of an independent life. In addition to the support of long-term efforts in the fields of Stem Cell and Genetic research for an ultimate cure, we are particularly interested in promising near-term, scientific studies designed to inhibit the progression of macular degeneration and restore a measurable amount of vision to all. In other words, "Research to Restore Vision". Macular Degeneration Foundation, Inc. maintains the Dr. Edmund J. Aleksandrovich Memorial Research Fund with Edward Jones in Henderson, Nevada. All contributions to this fund (100%) are used for research.
